What if I do not have a referral?
We can assist you in obtaining a referral from your physician, but 'direct access' for physical therapy may eliminate this step. Most insurance policies allow us to see you without a referral. We are always able to evaluate you without a referral, regardless of your insurance, unless you are seeing an occupational therapist— in which case, you would need a referral.
I go to work early or work late. Can you accommodate my schedule?
We accommodate patients’ schedules offering early, late, and lunchtime appointments.
How quickly can I begin therapy once the referral is received?
We return calls and texts within one business day of initial contact by you or your physician office. If you are in pain or are post-operative, we prioritize finding an evaluation appointment as soon as possible. (Fax # 225-926-2470)
How will my physician know how I am doing in therapy?
We feel strongly that therapist and physician communication is vital to achieve the best outcome in therapy. The prescribing physician receives a copy of the evaluation and progress notes as appropriate. Attendance of follow–up visits with the prescribing physician is strongly encouraged.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothing is key! If your appointment is during work hours, you can bring clothing with you and change at the facility. If you are an aquatic therapy patient and not comfortable in a bathing suit, you may wear a tank or T-shirt with athletic shorts.
How long do therapy sessions last?
Appointments typically last around 60 minutes but can vary based on individual needs.
How many visits will I need?
This will vary based on your diagnosis and the severity of your condition. Your therapist will be able to talk with you about their expectations based on how your symptoms present, using their knowledge and experience, but feel free to engage them with your questions at any time! Co-collaboration is key to successful outcomes!
What are my insurance benefits?
We will verify your therapy benefits to the best of our ability by phone and/or website prior to your appointment, but this is not a guarantee of payment by your insurance company. We recommend calling the phone number on your insurance card to confirm our findings, as you are responsible for all charges your insurance company assigns to you.
What if my insurance changes?
You must notify us immediately if your coverage changes. This is very important. All insurance companies have different requirements, and we need to know those specifics prior to a therapy visit, to best inform you and to be compliant with billing and authorization if that is needed. There is no database that we can access that tells us your current insurance company, so any changes are your responsibility alone to communicate.
